Save your yard waste and bring compostable or paper bags for composting with AVSN on Saturday, November 23rd!That's right, AVSN has teamed up with Summit to once again host a FREE yard waste collection event on Saturday, November 23rd from 11:00AM to 1PM at the Applewood Community of Christ parking lot, located on the corner of Ward and 38th. Please note, plastic bags will not be accepted!!
As your gardens start to go to sleep for the winter, and your leaves fall from the trees, please consider how important all that material is to the ecosystem. Rather than adding yard waste to the landfill, consider composting! When organic material sits in a landfill it often can't break down due to a lack of oxygen and takes up precious space. Mowing your leaves into a tiny "mulch" is great for your grass, cuts down on weeds the next spring, and adds moisture to the soil. However, if you have an abundance of leaves, dead flower heads or garden vines bring it for responsible waste management through composting!
Again, all yard materials must be in a paper or compostable bag... no plastic permitted. Pet waste, dirt, rocks, and branches larger than three inches not accepted.
