About this Event
This important gathering recognizes the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and brings together community members, service providers, and advocates together in the ongoing effort to end gender-based violence with a Community Talk on Intimate Partner Violence & Femicide in Ontario.
Time: Doors open at 12:30 PM | Program begins at 1:00 PM | Program to finish at 4:00 PM. Refreshments provided.
This year’s event will feature:
- Keynote Speaker: Dr. Jordan Fairbairn, Associate Professor, Department of Sociology & Criminology, King’s University College at Western University.
Dr. Fairbairn’s research focuses on intimate femicide, media framing, and feminist criminology. Her current research, “Representing Intimate Femicide in Canada: Understanding Media Framing of Gender-Related Killings of Women and Girls, 2010–2024,” offers valuable insight into the national discourse on gender-based violence. - Panel Discussion and Q&A: Experts addressing femicide and intimate partner violence across different sectors.
There will be Community Agency Displays & Catered Refreshments.
