It's that time again, kids! The annual Stick Horse Pub Crawl, a fun lively crawl through the Quarter that has been going on too many years to count. Every year riders break out their stick horses and come to gallop through the streets of the historic French Quarter. Sounds like day drinking drunken shenanigans you say? I say, well yeah what's ya point. But wait I say. It's a benefit. Benefit you say? For who? This year's recipient is Toups Family Meals. In short, Amanda and Isaac Toups non-profit raises money and makes meals available for those families and children facing food insecurity. A whopping 1 out of 3 families are affected at some point. For more detail on our selected non-profit group go to www.toupsfamilymeal.com Quick overview of the pub crawl. It is a suggested donation of 10 dollars. We will have food available to us courtesy of Willie Mackie and the Page Bar. If you are eating we ask for another 10 bucks to defray the cost of the meal. The way we raise money is we pleasantly shake down patrons and passers by of the stops that we are at. All the money raised goes to the selected non-profit.
The meetup starts in a new paddock this year. We are heading out from the Chart Room. Then, we visit perennial starting spot Erin Rose. From there it the Page for lunch (and jello shots) From there we invade Bourbon Street and visit our Friends' Aaron and Angie Davis and their new bar, Misfit Toys then to our home paddock at BMacs. We sometimes call an audible and add a stop but that is the route to date. Please RSVP if you joining us. There will be a trophy at the end for whatever we feel like honoring. Plus we like to give the Page a general count on how many folks will be there for food. Invite your friends...teams of horses are encouraged as well as blinging your horse out. This is for charity so fundraising is a goal but it is also a pub crawl so day drinking shenanigans are maybe not a goal, but definitely a highlight.
