Our annual Remembrance Service is a poignant time when we pause to remember those who fought for the cause of freedom in two great World Wars, subsequent conflicts around the world, and in defence of Northern Ireland during the troubles. Scripture reminds us, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends’ (John 15:13). We are thankful to God for the freedom we enjoy in this nation, and are conscious that our freedom and peace have come at a high price. The great and only answer to war is the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. We can only know peace with God through Him, and this provides the basis for peace among men.
