Make Poverty History Manitoba is excited to hold a concert at the West End Cultural Centre to raise funds for our continued advocacy efforts to end poverty in Manitoba!
The event will be hosted by CBC radio host Faith Fundal and features Andrina Turenne with her band LOGs, and Greg MacPherson.
Tickets $25 (link)
Low income and wish to attend? Please email [email protected]
Andrina Turenne is a Juno-award winning Franco-Manitoban/Red River Métis artist and just released her first solo record, Bold as Logs. She will be performing with her full band “LOGs”.
Canadian singer/songwriter Greg MacPherson has been long-listed for the Polaris Prize and has consistently produced innovative, boundary-pushing rock music to reach new ears.
Bringing together local musical talent, the Make Poverty History Manitoba concert fundraiser has become a tradition. The show is an opportunity for the community to come together to celebrate and to build our movement for change.
This event is the primary fundraiser for Make Poverty History Manitoba, as there are few funding sources for anti-poverty organizing and advocacy.
Make Poverty History Manitoba is a multi-sectoral collaborative coalition representing student, youth, Indigenous, newcomer, labour, women’s, disability, business, education, urban, rural, and northern communities.
We believe that efforts to successfully reduce poverty and increase social inclusion must adopt comprehensive and systematic approaches.
MPHM raises awareness about poverty, developing solutions to end it and building the political will to implement change. Over the past year, we have fought back against cuts to housing and EIA and increased pressure for a Livable Basic Needs Benefit to ensure every Manitoban can live a life with dignity.
We are building a movement so that no worker should live in poverty, no family is hungry and all Manitobans can live a fulfilling life.
Make Poverty History Manitoba acknowledges the sponsors to date for the concert: The Manitoba Federation of Labour and the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 832.
