Anna Rune is the alias of flaming Anna De Volder (28). In 2015, she was the first woman to convincingly take home the title of national tv show 'Best Singer-Songwriter of the Netherlands' with her song 'That's Life'. With that same song she was named '3FM serious talent' by radio station 3FM. In 2018 her debut album 'Residue & Lovers' Dust' was released, with which she took on stages like Sziget Festival, Pinkpop, Songbird, Paradiso, Mezz and TivoliVredenburg.
Best described as Neo-Romantic Pop, the new songs turn a corner to a more fresh and impulsive vibe. With bouncing basslines, driving rhythms and analog synths at the wheel, Anna's more lyrical and sometimes dark way of songwriting receives a layer of hopeful perspective. It has to, since all of the songs are dedicated to people who had a monumental impact on her life and her struggles with mental health.
The fist part: the EP 'The Secret', already celebrated its release on october 2nd 2021. Anna bared her soul, talking openly about her 4 year struggle with an eating disorder and depression. The second part 'For Monumental People' - released february 2022 - contains the whole album and focusses on the wise lessons that helped her rediscover her musical identity during her mental struggle. The album was well received with a 4 star review in Focus Knack magazine and airplay in Belgium on Studio Brussel, Urgent and Radio 1. With the album, Anna hopes to open conversations about vulnerability, self-love and total destructive misery.
