Beast
Beast is the collaborative vision of Canadian musicians Katelyn Clark (portative organ/harpsichord) @and Ben Grossman (hurdy-gurdy). Since forming in 2021, the self-described ‘early drone’ duo has drawn from ancient practices of bourdon, imaginative temperament, and long-form improvisation. Their music intersects realms of experimental, minimalism, and dark ambient. Each performance offers a carefully built landscape, occasionally enhanced through the use of large pipe organs, instrumental preparation, amplification, and digital process. Beast is based in Montréal/Tiohtià:ke.
Christ’s Big Naturals
The duo of Amy Macdonald and Ky Brooks, featuring an experimental two-person choir, accordion and amplified guitar.
Anna Johnson (Chicago)
Anna Johnson unites electroacoustic improvisation with backgrounds in medieval folk traditions and sacred music. Vocal expression is at the center of her layered sound, a portal to embodied, emotional presence. Based in drone and hypnotic repetition, her work offers a ritualistic experience: one that navigates intensities, through shifting terrains of tension and heaviness toward moments of release, from an internal space into a shared catharsis. In all creative modalities, she is drawn to the meeting points between personal and mythical, present and ancient.
Anna originates from Minnesota, where she was raised with Celtic and English folk traditions and sacred choral music, and studied both Western classical as well as traditional Eastern European vocal polyphony, in addition to her formations in theatre and the visual arts. She holds an MFA from the Performance department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Anna’s debut EP Unknowing was released in 2025 on Industrial Coast and her debut LP Swarm of Tongues releases October 2026 on Somnimage. She will be on tour in support of Swarm of Tongues throughout the Great Lakes and East Coast regions of North America in fall 2026.
