Animas Museum will be the site of a living history presentation on the impact and heritage of sheep in the La Plata County area. Watch as costumed interpreters demonstrate how to do natural dyeing, spinning, and weaving with the sheep wool. Children will be able to try their hand at related crafts. Speakers will include Dr. Ruth Lambert, author of The Wooden Canvas, who will share her vast knowledge of the art and messages sheep herders left on aspen trees as they traveled in the area. Dr. Andrew Gulliford will share stories and viewpoints from his book The Woolly West and he will also be available for book signing.
