Animal Allies (age 10-12) - Winter 2023

Animal Allies provides youth with a positive experience of active involvement in our shelter through interaction with animals, structured volunteer shadowing opportunities, and inspiring and relevant guest speakers.

1. Begin a deeper understanding of their proper animal care, body language and enrichment
2. Understand what laws exist to protect animals and how these laws are enforced
3. Recognize the importance of native flora and fauna in the environment and how these species are important to a stable ecosystem
4. Actively participate in support tasks around Calgary Humane Society to make a difference in the lives of the animals in our care
5. Become Calgary Humane Society Champions by developing their understanding of philanthropy and the importance of fundraising in non-profit work
6. Build upon their sense of social responsibility to animals, people, and the environment
