Angry Boater (C4's Narrow Escapes) live in Norwich

If you saw series 1 or 2 of Channel 4's ‘Narrow Escapes’, you might know a bit about me.
I know show descriptions should be short & snappy but every other show description is like that and I try not to do what everyone else does.
When deciding if I will go to something, I want to know what I’m committing to so I'll try to write something real – something that is not a slogan-ridden press release.
If you’ve got this far, thank you. If I’m losing your interest already, I'm probably not for you anyway.
Prior to becoming a boater, I was a comic touring the US, trying to become the first Brit to perform in all 50 states (I managed 40). I went everywhere from redneck bars across the Deep South to the casinos of Las Vegas. During that time, I worked with many of my comedy heroes, including Robin Williams.
When my American escapades ended abruptly following a disastrous evening in Tennessee, I came back, bought a narrowboat and, 18 years on, am still floating around.
I started building ‘Angry Boater’ in 2010 and it constantly evolves. Aged 59, travelling around is becoming an effort nowadays and I'm not planning to waste anyone's time with half baked, new material. I want everyone, including me, to go home feeling satisfied.
Also, despite the title, it's not shouty or sweary and that can confuse people. You can expect to be entertained and engaged rather than yelled at and berated (unless your phone goes off or you arrive late in which case .... let's hope I'm in a forgiving mood).
If you enjoy authentic, independent, story-based comedy that stays with you long after you've left the venue, give some thought to coming along. You'll be glad you did - probably.
I might be underselling myself so here's a few comments from people who saw the show over the past 2 years:
“Joel Sanders, aka Angry Boater, is an absolute comedic gem! His razor-sharp wit, masterful storytelling, and brilliantly observational humour make for a night of non-stop laughter. Whether he’s sharing his unique experiences of life on the water or delving into the absurdities of everyday life, Joel captivates his audience with an energy that’s both electric and effortlessly relatable. His ability to turn the most mundane moments into comedic gold is nothing short of genius. If you haven’t experienced angry boater live, you’re seriously missing out on one of the funniest and most original acts around.”
“We had a fantastic night. You went down a storm.”
“We went last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. So funny and well worth the price of the ticket.”
I am very fortunate that Narrow Escapes came into my life and grateful for the extra attention it brought my way.. It’s not something I expected to come along in my late 50's and, for as long as people want to see it, I hope to visit as many places as I can.
If you haven't seen ‘Narrow Escapes,' you can stream it on the 4 app.
In Series 1 (eps 6, 7 & 8) the programme followed my shenanigans as I travelled on my narrowboat between a pair of shows in London & Coventry.
In Series 2 (ep 23, 24 & 25), I floated from Birmingham down to Sharpness and took my narrowboat on the sea to Bristol in the middle of the night. I can't quite believe it either.
Running time 120 mins (approx) plus interval. There are no opening acts.
