ABOUT ANGELA LAFLAMME & HER SWINGIN’ ALL-STARS
Angela LaFlamme & Her Swingin’ All-Stars bring a wonderfully unpredictable mix to the dance floor — classic swing, blues, R&B and New Orleans sounds alongside clever left turns, unusual arrangements, and Angela’s own original songs.
Angela draws inspiration from artists as wide-ranging as Billie Holiday, Count Basie, Fats Waller, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins and Tom Waits, giving familiar swing and blues material a slightly darker, more mischievous edge. There’s a touch of old cabaret and steampunk theatricality in the mix, but underneath it all is a band that knows how to swing.
A particular treat is guitarist Miles Boisen, whose fiery fills, bluesy bends and unexpected musical ideas add another layer of excitement to the arrangements.
The result is music that can move from smooth and sultry to raucous, funny, strange and wonderfully danceable — exactly the kind of band where you’re never entirely sure what’s coming next.
