World renowned artist Andy Warhol, has typically been perceived as a personification of the consumerist society and crass commercialism that marked the second half of the 20th century. Famous for his interest in celebrity and advertising, he became synonymous with all that is created and manufactured by humanity. The hive of his artistic output was known as "The Factory", itself a name that is a nod to his interest in the industrial and mass produced.

"Andy in Nature" explores Warhol through a very different lens, that of photographer Christopher Makos, who was by Warhol's side for much of the 1970's and 80s. In the series of photographs Makos presents here, we see a new and under-appreciated, if not unknown, dimension of Warhol exposed. His love of nature and how he relied on natural environments to re-center him.

Paul Solberg's work highlights and expands upon the one aspect of Warhol's appreciation for nature which is well-known... his interest in flowers. Warhol famously made over 10,000 silk screen prints of flowers in bloom during his career. Most notably, his 1964 Hibiscus series, executed during the height of the "Flower Power" era.
