ANDRO COULTON'S GIVE 'EM HELL
Andro was in Witchfynde from early 1975 until july 1980 and was the bassist on the iconic album Give 'Em Hell.
After leaving Witchfynde he then formed a new band called Malleus with his the girlfriend (now wife) Shaz this lasted until 1984 and a single recording session resulted in 4 songs being recorded but never released and Andro left the music scene.
However he started again in 2006 with a solo album Dragonhead and then formed a new band called ZXY and toured in 2014. In 2016 this became Malleus again,
Unfortunately Andro was diagnosed with myeloma cancer early 2017 which he is now in remission. Malleus reformed to play a festival in December 2017 and went on to record an album in 2018 which was released in 2019. However Andro was under pressure from fans to form a band to play the Witchfynde songs of the era I played in. Andro Formed Andro Coulton's Give 'Em Hell in summer 2019 and played the British Steel festival in France in the October. The band went through quite a few line up changes culminating with the present one in November 2023 which performed at the Blast From The Past festi-val Belgium in December 2023.
It was plain from the outset that this line up was a fantastic band in it's own right and so with this album it was decided to come 'Out of the Shadows' of Witchfynde let let the public hear their sound. The album is made up of two old witchfynde songs that have never been recorded before and given the Give 'Em Hell treatment, there are two Malleus tracks on there again sounding new and fresh and both differing in style and arrangement from the original Malleus versions.
There are then four songs that the Give 'Em Hell singer Dave Murray brought to the band originals from the 1980s again reworked to the GEH style. Finally the album finishes with Roadhouse Blues a nod to the band loving both the Doors and Status Quo.
Influences are many from Motorhead through to Southern Rock. There's Prog rock in there, even a nod to the Beatles.
