A Songwriters' Showcase makes for a great show as audiences truly get “up close and personal” with the songwriters! The classic format of a showcase, or writer's round, has multiple songwriters on stage. One performs a song, followed by the next writer, and the next, and so on. Each songwriter can join in with the others, add harmonies, contribute a guitar riff, or just listen. Writers talk about how and why they wrote the songs, and there are always lively stories and interaction between the writers. Unlike many live gigs where people aren’t necessarily there for the music, but rather to socialize or to have a drink, a writers' round is all about listening to the songs. There’s a intimacy and inclusiveness in the room that you won’t find anywhere else.

Andrew started his career with the folk rock duo Billy Pilgrim in the early ‘90s. He and partner Kristian Bush released a pair of albums for Atlantic Records (their 1994 self-titled debut and the 1995’s Bloom) earning multiple Top 5 singles on the AAA charts, rotation on VH1, and a reputation as dynamic performers traveling throughout the US and Europe. Andrew has also released multiple solo albums including the widely acclaimed, Curios, in 2011. In 2020, Billy Pilgrim re-released their album, Time Machine, along with two pre-internet albums Words Like Numbers and St. Christopher’s Crossing. During the ‘90s, Billy Pilgrim’s music was featured on soundtracks to several TV shows, including “Melrose Place” and “My So-Called Life,” while the duo toured the world with Melissa Etheridge, Hootie & The Blowfish and the Cowboy Junkies. Songs “Get Me Out of Here” and “Insomniac” became hits on college and Triple-A radio, while their 1995 album, “Bloom,” hit No. 37 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart.

Andrew Hyra continues to perform with Kristian Bush as the folk rock duo Billy Pilgrim as well as fronting his new project Smokin Novas.
