Andrew Hardin "Fragments and Figures: A Queer Allegory"
July 3–26
reception July 11 Sat 6–8 pm
artist talk at 7 pm
Garner Narrative welcomes Louisville artist Andrew Hardin with an exhibit of new painting, drawing and collage.
Hardin earned a B.A. in Studio Art from Hanover College and an M.A. in Critical and Curatorial Studies from the University of Louisville. His first career in a variety of museum support and educator roles (Cincinnati Art Museum, National Underground Railroad Freedom Center) led deeper into the classroom, teaching art to students of all ages.
Hardin's art practice was shaped by his childhood, growing up gay on a dairy farm in southern Indiana. Farm life involves intense physical labor, repetition, and maintenance; this informs how he understands (art) work as action and ethic. Meanwhile, inside the studio and in gallery spaces, Hardin negotiates visibility and self-definition.
