One of the most renowned figures in science fiction literature, the Polish-born Stanislaw Lem's most popular work of the same title served as the basis for Andrei Tarkovsky's Solaris, which raised serious questions and won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival in 1972. (It was later often compared to Stanley Kubrick's similar masterpiece, 2001: A Space Odyssey.)
A space expedition sets off from Earth with the goal of uncovering a mystery that has occupied many minds: what is causing people to die one after another at the space station near the planet Solaris? During his investigation of the bizarre case, Kris discovers that the consciousness ocean surrounding the celestial body seemingly creates all those that the space station's workers remember with guilt or remorse.
Since this has already occurred in the lives of all of them, the remaining ones are engaged in a desperate struggle against the mysterious force, yet the outcome of the fight against the tangible illusion is highly uncertain...
