About this Event
"Warm up to Winter" and a whole and vital life outdoors in Minnesota! (even if you are from Mississippi or Martinique) Melanin In Motion, Anthony Taylor, and the Cultural Wellness Center are hosting this year's inaugural event at Battle Creek Center in the latest regional park to add snowmaking. Every summer, we are reminded that Nature, Outdoors, and movement are beneficial and good for our physical and mental health. We cannot let winter stop our forward momentum! We invite BIPOC communities, immigrant families, Minnesota newbies, Northside families, girls, and women to kick off the season from the Rec Center at Battle Creek Park, a new center for BIPOC Joy Below 32 Degrees. We invite BIPOC communities, immigrant families, Minnesota newbies, Eastside, Westside, Rondo, and Frogtown families, girls, and women to kick off the season from the Rec Center at Battle Creek Park, a new center for BIPOC Joy Below 32 Degrees. You can teach and coach others if you have already snowboarded, Alpine, or XC ski.
Join Anthony Taylor, musician, farmer, artist, and outdoor enthusiast Marcus Kar and their families and coaches for a FREE concert featuring local talent, fire pits, food, fun, and information sessions. Learn all the opportunities to get yourself, your kids, your family, and your friends outdoors and active all winter. All skills and abilities are welcome and encouraged, and all experiences are designed for first-timers to succeed. Scholarships for all future activities are available.
This event will include:
- Dates and Deals (special pricing) to learn and go Snowboarding, Downhill Skiing, Cross-country skiing, Snow Shoeing, Fat Biking, and Tubing/Sled all winter;
- Camps, trips, and social outings;
- Volunteer opportunities to help all season long.

- Great Food
- Opportunities to sign up to learn to coach and support other BIPOC community members.
