Lucia and Darrow are on a date. It seems to be going well. And then the whole world tilts by one small degree. A new comedy by local writer.
About this Event

North Carolina playwright Allan Maule (Everscape, Wellerdads) explores contemporary relationships, scientific exploration, and the overlap between the two in this new romantic comedy.

In May 2019, the world's scientists shifted the mass of the kilogram to base it on mathematical precision instead of physical weight. This was a breakthrough for scientific understanding, and a complete disaster for a first date between Lucia and Darrow.

With Lucia’s astrophysics research thrown into turmoil and her immigration hearing imminent, she must decide if she can take a leap of faith and trust Darrow's creative instincts as he tries to keep her in the country. What follows is a comic love story about physics, writing, and how we cope with the sudden change of the unchangeable.

Join us for a staged reading of NC playwright Allan Maule's "The Weight of Everything We Know" at Theatre in the Park! Weight had a stellar world premiere at Theatre Raleigh, and it was recognized among The Best of What We Saw productions by the Cultural Voice of North Carolina. The script also placed as a semifinalist in ScreenCraft's 2024 Stage Play Competition, ranked 13th among more than 600 scripts in a national contest.

Staged reading directed by Lorelei Lemon and features local actors TBD.
