About this Event
Emptiness to Fullness - Qigong: The Heart
From Wu Wei (Invisible Action) to La Chi (Visible Action)
Syra Khan leads a Medical Qigong workshop inviting participants to cultivate and nourish the Heart, so that we may navigate through the ups and downs of these accelerated times with grace, honoring the Heart's Wisdom. According to Taoist Alchemy, each of our organs not only has a bodily function, but they are also deeply connected to our spiritual development, virtues and our connection with the universal forces.
In Qigong practice Heart is connected to the Mind and Spirit. It is the Spiritual Center of our Being. It is connected to highly refined Intuition, Compassion, Perception and one's own Inherent Healing Capacity. A strong heart's spirit helps forge one’s own Spiritual Path and to step into one’s own sovereignty. In Taoist Alchemy, the Heart is the sovereign ruler of the consciousness. When clear, it reflects truth as still water reflects the moon. But as we experience life, there are five distortions or disturbances (Xin Wu Xie) (jealousy, pride, impatience, over excitement, hatred) that burden and disturb one’s Heart and one is unable to perceive the truth clearly. The intention of this workshop is to reawaken the original “Spirit” of the Heart, which may become depleted creating imbalances in its natural or spiritual vitality.
This workshop will focus on self-cultivation of our heart, resolving and releasing the 5 disturbances of the Heart, practicing Wu Wei to experience Emptiness and La Chi to collect Qi into our different Elixir Fields for Fullness. Through breathing, meditation, movement, healing sounds, tapping, self- massaging, poetry and story telling we will engage, in Qigong and its infinite wisdom.
About Qigong
Qigong is an ancient 5000-year-old Chinese self-healing and self-unfoldment practice that has been validated by modern scientific research showing that it can not only heal and prevent physical diseases but also harmonize and heal the mind. Healing the mind restores the harmony of the mind-heart connection for one’s overall wellbeing and spiritual development. Qigong is vast and infinite. The way we approach Qigong is by remaining open to its infinite and every possibility. When the mind starts to heal and mind-heart connection returns to nature, a possibility of awakening of our own inner “Buddha” is discovered. Simply put, as Qigong starts working as one’s own inner medicine, one is able to step into the positive paradigm of developing one’s own innate and hidden human potential.
Note: For this workshop no prior Qigong experience is required. Please note this is a substance free practice. Qigong when practiced with mindfulness and care under an experienced practitioner is safe for most supporting balance and wellbeing at every level. If you live with unique medical conditions and doubt your ability to practice Qigong, please consult your physician for advice to ensure this practice is safe for you.
