Sunday, June 14th from 2-5 PM Paint your own Formline butterfly (ḵaa daa l'eix̱í) with Formline Artist and Tlingit tribal member, Bill Pfeifer, Jr.
As you paint, Bill will share stories about the butterfly from oral histories that will help you encounter the rich connections of an ancient art form, depicting animals, supernatural beings, and figures.
The Butterfly in Tlingit culture represents the ability to change and evolve, moving from a crawling caterpillar to a winged being.
What to Expect:
A hands-on chance to learn technique, paint, ask Bill questions, and honor a living tradition.
No painting experience is required; all you need is the willingness to use your inner creativity and embrace the beauty of formline.
This unique art-making session invites you to explore the visual language of the native peoples of the Northwest Coast of North America.
We hope you will join us at the Stottle Winery Tasting Room in Lacey for this fun and cultural experience in painting!
-The Stottle Tasting Room offers a beautiful selection of Wines for purchase along with non-alcoholic options
