Geri Sanders holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history with a concentration in African American studies. From 2006-2020 she taught American history and African American history at Metropolitan Community Colleges. She also worked as an archivist at the Black Archives of Mid-America, director of collections at the American Jazz Museum, and as a consultant at the Kansas City Museum. She has an impressive collection of additional projects. Currently, Ms. Sanders is an independent historical consultant with a focus on black Kansas City with an emphasis on the 18th and Vine historic district, leading tours and highlighting the many black-owned businesses from the past.
