David J. Strobel, Founder/CEO/President of two San Diego space companies will lead and moderate this panel discussion.
Panelists include CEOs for five (5) local firms in the space industry : General Atomics, Innoflight, Vulcan Wireless, Blue Marble Communications, and Gemini Designs. The panel will discuss the driving forces in the industry, covering:
- Foreign competition
- Threats from trend to vertical integration e.g (SpaceX)
- US Government business climate both local and national
- Use and value proposition of Board of Directors or Advisers
- Leverage of the DoD and NASA SBIR program to fuel R&D and
- Other "What keeps you up at night?" concerns
Panel Moderator
David Strobel has over 50 years of satellite and space experience with the USAF, Northrop, SAIC, Space Electronics Inc., Space Micro, and Voyager Space. His roles include project manager, program manager, marketing, President, and CEO. Mr. Strobel has participated in satellite product R&D and market launch, and successfully inserted and marketed many radiation hard/tolerant space electronics subsystem products including space computers, radios, lasercom, and cameras/star trackers. He has developed an extensive “rolodex” of top level contacts in the space industry covering government, industry, and academia. He transcends commercial space and government (DOD and NASA) customers which include Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon Space, Boeing Space, General Atomic, SDA, AFRL, Airbus, Thales Alenia Space (TAS), Sierra Nevada and JPL. He sold two employee-owned space companies at market premium prices to a) Maxwell Technologies and b) Voyager Space.
Mr. Strobel earned a B.S. in Astronautical Engineering from the USAF Academy, a M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from Cornell University, a M.S. in Systems Management from University of Southern California, and a M.B.A from the Claremont Graduate School, Peter Drucker School of Management.
Currently, Mr. Strobel is a Board member at CyberSphere Data, USAF Academy Foundation and Okika Technologies.
