The rich tradition of the Mexican pastorela chronicles the shepherds’ journey to visit the newborn Christ Child, often embellished with humor and always celebrating the triumph of good over evil. Spirit Child – a favorite program of Jouyssance singers and audience members alike -- will weave a pastorela with Renaissance and early Baroque music of Mexico with narration by special guest, Los Angeles Times columnist Gustavo Arellano.
