"Speechless" Documentary: Screening and Panel Discussion
About this Event
Join us for a special event hosted by the Simon Fraser University chapter of Heterodox Academy! We will be screening the documentary Speechless, which premiered on CBC this year. The film showcases the controversies around free speech on US university campuses; the trailer will give you a glimpse.
Afterwards, we will hold a panel discussion featuring the award-winning director of the film, Ric Esther Bienstock OC; Lynn Smith OC, KC, (Honorary Professor at the Allard School of Law at UBC and a former justice on the BC Supreme Court); and Rima Wilkes (Professor in Sociology at UBC). Andy Sellwood, HxCanada Community moderator, will moderate. Audience Q&A will follow.
We will be following the HxA Way code of conduct. Please be sure to review this code prior to the event.
We will give priority to attendees with university email addresses until Nov. 30. Please note that if you register with a non-university email address, before Nov. 30, your ticket may be cancelled.
