For the past 14 years, Val Starr & the Blues Rocket have continued to rocket to the top of the national radio blues charts with seven all original blues CDs. Their latest CD, “To the Blues and Back Again” was released in April of 2024, and went top 5 with a consecutive 27 weeks on the national blues charts and counting. Based in the Sacramento, California area, Val’s band consists of many of the area’s top blues musicians, including lead guitarist Timothy Brisson (former guitarist with Frankie Lee), Pamela Charles Arthur (Taylor P. Collins, Kaye Bohler, Lady Bo & the BC Horns), Kirk Hooper on drums, Frankie Munz on harmonica and Val’s partner of 47 years, John Ellis on bass.
