ARQUIN-FAD convida l’arquitecte Jacob van Rijs, president del jurat dels Premis FAD Internacionals 2026, a presentar la seva obra i compartir la seva visió de l’arquitectura.

Els Premis FAD Internacionals són uns guardons que reconeixen obres d’arquitectura realitzades arreu del món per professionals d’Espanya i Portugal, i formen part dels Premis FAD d'Arquitectura i Interiorisme. En el marc d’aquests premis, Jacob van Rijs parlarà dels seus projectes més destacats, del seu procés creatiu i de la seva manera d’entendre i practicar l’arquitectura.

Jacob van Rijs (Amsterdam, 1964) és arquitecte i urbanista, i un dels fundadors de l’estudi MVRDV, creat el 1993 juntament amb Winy Maas i Nathalie de Vries. Els seus primers projectes destacats —com la seu de la VPRO i les vivendes WoZoCo per a gent gran a Amsterdam— van donar a l’estudi un reconeixement internacional. Durant dues dècades, MVRDV ha desenvolupat projectes d’arquitectura i urbanisme, plans mestres i investigacions, incloent-hi eines de disseny com el programari Function and Region Mixer.

Aquesta conferència forma part del programa de Barcelona 2026 Capital Mundial de l’Arquitectura, un reconeixement atorgat per la UNESCO i la Unió Internacional d’Arquitectes (UIA), que situa la ciutat com a epicentre global de l’arquitectura. Aquesta iniciativa està organitzada per l’Ajuntament de Barcelona i la Fundació Mies van der Rohe.

ARQUIN-FAD invites architect Jacob van Rijs, President of the Jury of the 2026 FAD International Awards, to present his work and share his vision of architecture.

The FAD International Awards recognise architectural works designed around the world by professionals from Spain and Portugal, and are part of the FAD Awards for Architecture and Interior Design. As part of this programme, Jacob van Rijs will discuss some of his most notable projects, his creative process, and his approach to understanding and practising architecture

Jacob van Rijs (Amsterdam, 1964) is an architect and urban planner, and one of the founding partners of MVRDV, established in 1993 together with Winy Maas and Nathalie de Vries. The firm gained international recognition through its early landmark projects, including the VPRO headquarters and the WoZoCo housing complex for elderly residents in Amsterdam. Over the past two decades, MVRDV has developed a wide range of architectural and urban planning projects, masterplans and research initiatives, including design tools such as the Function and Region Mixer software.

This lecture is part of the programme of Barcelona 2026 World Capital of Architecture, a distinction awarded by the UNESCO and the International Union of Architects, positioning Barcelona as a global hub for architecture. The initiative is organised by the Barcelona City Council and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe.
