CCL and Sierra Club are delighted to host Professor Hector LaSala at the Lafayette Public Library on Oct 7. Professor LaSala will give a presentation on the importance of livable cities in the modern world. Since the beginning of the suburbanization in the 1950s, we have chosen to abandon walkable cities, which were the womb for Western civilization and democracy. Professor LaSala will discuss the elements of livable cities including walkability, communal gathering spaces, green design, and how we can live in a way that reduces our energy consumption. We will meet at 5:30 pm, and the presentation will start at 6 pm. Please join us for snacks and conversation next Monday!
