"Prose Poems: Bigger on the Inside" with Claire Bateman

​​Foregrounding experimentation and play, we’ll take a taxonomic approach, examining many types of prose poems as we explore the opportunities inherent in hybridity as we engage with this marvelously versatile form. There will be a lot of writing time and opportunities for group feedback with a question-based approach that’s focused more on open-ended possibilities than critical analysis.

About the author:

Claire Bateman is the author of The Pillow Museum (FC2 Press, January 2025) and nine poetry collections, most recently, Wonders of the Invisible World with 42 Miles Press and Scape with New Issues Poetry & Prose. She has been awarded Individual Artist Fellowships by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Tennessee Arts Commission, and the Surdna Foundation, as well as two Pushcart Prizes and the New Millennium Poetry Prize, also twice.
