"Pageant's Miraculous Journey" is the true story of a remarkable foxhound named, "Pageant," who made a perilous, nearly 40 mile trip, from Thomasville to his home at Live Oak Plantation in Florida. He arrived safely at home on Easter Sunday morning. A member of the Live Oak Hounds Hunt, Catherine Ledyard wrote a wonderful children's book recounting Pageant's journey and she will delight us with a reading of the book here at Pebble Hill Plantation on Sunday, October 27th at 2 p.m. Making a special appearance, will be a hound from the award-winning Live Oak Hounds pack. Members of the Live Oak Hounds Hunt and Hunt staff will share the history and traditions of foxhunting. Pebble Hill's last mistress, Elisabeth "Pansy" Ireland Poe, was an avid foxhunter and kept her own pack of hounds. Also on site for the event will be Thomasville Humane with pet adoptions and the Live Oak Hounds Pony Club. The event is FREE to the public and refreshments will be available for purchase. The perfect way to spend an autumn afternoon! Dogs on leashes are welcome. (Illustration by Beth Secor). Visit pebblehill.com or call 229-226-2344 for more information.
