"Opening The Door To Justice" - An Evening of Celebration & Hope
About this Event
You're invited to join The Legal Project in support of our work and mission at this very special dinner on November 7th. Olivia Jaquith, Anchor for WRGB News, will serve as our Emcee and Sabrina Mosseau, BS, RN, is this year's Event Chairperson. Our awardees will include Kurt Bratten, Esq., who will receive a Distinguished Leadership Award, and the firm O'Connell & Aronowitz, that will receive a Partner In Justice award.
The Legal Project serves low-income New Yorkers who would otherwise have no access to legal representation, including elder citizens, crime victims, immigrants, domestic violence survivors and other vulnerable individuals and families.
Our story began in 1995 by helping low-income, unrepresented survivors of domestic violence in the Capital Region. Over the years, our practice areas have expanded to include homeownership/foreclosure, immigration, human trafficking, veterans law, elder law (including wills, living wills, powers of attorney and health care proxies) and eviction defense. We also offer community-based, no-cost consultations and workshops to the general public, including Legally Speaking workshops, the Small Business Legal Network, Uncontested Divorce Clinics and the Veterans Law Project.
Today, our services cover 14 counties in the Greater Capital Region: Albany, Columbia, Fulton, Greene, Herkimer, Montgomery, Oneida, Otsego, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Rensselaer, Warren and Washington. The Legal Project employs both staff attorneys and pro-bono volunteer attorneys from the community, enabling us to maximize the number of clients we can help with limited resources. In 2025, we assisted over 10,000 people across our programs and services. For many working families, we are the only realistic option for legal representation in vital matters pertaining to the essentials of life.
The Legal Project has offices located at 204 Lafayette Street, Suite 2, in Schenectady, New York and at 1 Steuben Place in Albany, New York. Our offices and team can be contacted via phone at (518) 435-1770 and online at .
