About this Event

Celebrate the legacy of Leonardo da Vinci with a free 30-minute screening of "Natural World is the Greatest Teacher," a preview of the upcoming premiere of Ken Burns' film "Leonardo da Vinci," airing on PBS Nov. 18 and 19 from 7-9 p.m. both evenings. Following the screening will be a panel discussion moderated by Prairie Public News Director Dave Thompson. The panel will delve into Leonardo's profound connection with nature and how it influenced his work in both art and science.

Other free activities for "Day of da Vinci" at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum include:

  • 10 a.m - Little Kids, Big World: Mona Lisa Art
    The interactive program for preschool-aged children will introduce young learners to one of Leonardo's most famous masterpieces.
  • 10:30 a.m. - Kid-friendly Film Screening
    A screening of a 12-minute kid-friendly portion of “Leonardo Da Vinci” will provide a brief but engaging glimpse into the life of the Renaissance genius.
  • 11 a.m. - Junior Historians: Da Vinci's Bridge
    Children in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to participate in a special program focused on Leonardo's innovative bridge design, giving young attendees the opportunity to explore the engineering mind of the artist.

Activities will take place in the Missouri River Events Center, and the screenings and panel discussion will be in the Russell Reid Auditorium.

“Leonardo da Vinci” will air on PBS Nov. 18 and 19 from 7-9 p.m. both evenings.

This event is a partnership between the State Historical Society of North Dakota and Prairie Public.
