“The love story of Michael O’Rahilly, ( Co-founder of the Irish Volunteers), and New Yorker Nancy Brown is beautifully captured in “Nancy & Michael” by playwright David Gilna. Their romance and the 1916 Rising which cause Nancy to lose her beloved Michael are the centerpiece of this captivating play. David Gilna did a wonderful job in presenting and captivating the true romance between two individuals who were initially separated by an ocean and ultimately jointed together in their love for each other and for Ireland. David Gilna literary use of the English language is reminiscence of several famous Irish writers such as Yeats and Kavanagh and Joyce. A must see play!!”

“In his play Michael & Nancy, David Gilna artfully weaves stories of revolution and romance intersecting at the pivotal moment of modern Irish history, the 1916 Easter Rising. Mining letters between a key figure in the uprising, Michael O’Rahilly, and his beloved Nancy Brown, Gilna gives life to the human stores of love, family, sacrifice, and tragedy set against the chaotic backdrop of armed insurrection in an intimate, searing theatrical experience.”

“We were thrilled to have a reading of one of the lesser-known tragic love stories of the 1916 Rising in the Society in Nancy and Michael. David's writing is so subtle and poignant when dealing with these historical topics, and the characters were fully revealed through his words as well though the moving performances. A sensitive look at the very real human toll behind the aspirations of the only leader who was killed in battle.”

"In David Gilna, I see more than just a playwright or actor; I see a beacon of hope for the Irish artistic community, a shining example of what can be achieved through talent, perseverance, and a touch of Irish magic. As he continues to break new ground and capture the hearts of audiences far and wide, I have no doubt that his name will soon be uttered in the same breath as the greats that have come before him. Watch this space, for the legend of David Gilna is only just beginning. “
