Aggregate Theatre Company proudly presents Aaron Posner's "My Name Is Asher Lev" in partnership with Jewish for Good and Ridge Road Baptist Church.
Adapted from the book by Chaim Potok, "My Name Is Asher Lev" follows the journey of a young Jewish painter torn between his Hasidic upbringing and his desperate need to fulfill his artistic promise. It's a powerful show that explores our drive to discover and develop who we are in relation to (and sometimes in spite of) the social, familial, and religious structures that form our identities.
The show's sophisticated themes of art, religion, and personal development is intended for adults, though the content is not inappropriate for teen audiences intentionally seeking to engage with this subject matter.
After a run in Raleigh from February 3-12 at Ridge Road Baptist Church, "My Name Is Asher Lev" performs in Durham at the Levin Jewish Community Center:

Live music featuring vocalist Emily Levinstone will begin 25 minutes prior to the start of each show.
A post-show discussion with Rabbi Daniel Greyber will follow the February 16 performance. A post-show discussion with the cast will follow the February 18 performance.
