About this Event

On Thursday, July 11, we welcome Zora J Murff to “Meet the Artist” night at CPW. Murff will be giving a presentation about his works, practice, and histories related to race and visual culture. Murff is currently a 2024 Woodstock AIR.

Join us every Thursday evening at CPW, when we host illuminating talks with local and visiting artists. “Meet the Artist” allows the public to get to know new work, to hear about artistic processes, and to meet friends and other local artists. The evening takes place at CPW’s gallery at 474 Broadway in Kingston, NY. It is free and open to the public. Coffee, tea, and snacks are served. “Meet the Artist” is made possible by a generous grant from the Arnold and Augusta Newman Foundation.

Zora J Murff is an artist and educator living in Rhode Island. He uses transgressive ideologies to create art promoting critical self-reflection and visual literacy. Zora has published multiple books of his artwork including his most recent, True Colors (Or, Affirmations In A Crisis), published by Aperture Foundation. His work has been collected internationally by many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the National Gallery of Art, Victoria & Albert Museum, and the Studio Museum in Harlem. In 2023, Zora was named an ICP 2023 Infinity Award winner alongside Ming Smith and Ariella Azoulay. To provide service to the artistic field, Zora has spent his career collaborating with other creatives in grass-roots arts organizing including Strange Fire Collective, The Photographer’s Green Book, and independent curatorial projects.
