Ever wonder what happens at the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums when the visitors leave, the doors are locked, and the lights turned out? Find out at a unique event that combines music, dance and nature on the evening of the summer solstice. Selections from “Magic at the Museum,” an original production of the Fremont Ballet School, will be adapted for a special, one-time only performance at Hayes Presidential at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21.
The audience will move along with the dancers as they bring the museum’s exhibits and the grounds of Spiegel Grove to life. Performances will take place in the Rotunda and the White House galleries in the museum, on the verandah of the Hayes Home and conclude in the Rose Garden.
The performance will last about 45 minutes and will be followed by a wine and cheese reception on the verandah of the Hayes Home.
Due to spacing limitations in the galleries, only 40 tickets will be sold. Tickets are $30 each and can be purchased online only at https://www.rbhayes.org/events/2022/06/21/events/magic-at-the-museum-ballet/.
Because this is a “roaming” performance, the audience will not be seated, but a limited number of chairs will be set up in each performance area for guests who need them. Those who need chairs are asked to contact Hayes Presidential at 419-332-2081, ext. 217.
In case of inclement weather, the performance and reception will be held entirely in the museum.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with the Fremont Ballet School on this program,” Executive Director Christie Weininger said. “We have never done anything quite like this at Spiegel Grove. To have such talented dancers perform against the backdrop of our exhibits and in the midst of our beautiful grounds on the longest day of the year I think will be a truly magical experience for the audience.”
