This FREE concert is on May 19th at 3 pm at the First Congregational Church at 6105 Center Rd., Traverse City.
Let Freedom Ring--these words are as true today as they were in 1776! On May 19th, Encore Symphonic Winds, conducted by Dr. Timothy Topolewski, will perform some of the most stirring and emblematic music of this important time in the history of the United States of America!
This concert features Carmen Dragon's America the Beautiful, as well as American Overture for Band by Jenkins. The concert will include the woodwind quintet, The Prevailing Winds, performing an American Spiritual Medley arranged by Jerry Nowak. The quintet is a group from Encore Symphonic Winds whose members are Peg Kroll-Flute, Margie Tropf-Oboe, Kiane Kolak-Horn, Steve Gilbreath-Clarinet and Ted Kroll-Bassoon. Concluding the concert will be the Field Artillery March of John Philip Sousa.

Founded in 1989, Encore’s mission is to offer our community excellent music in an entertaining way through four seasonal concerts a year while providing quality experiences for the musicians, allowing them the opportunity to return their talents to the community. Encore Symphonic Winds consists of approximately 50 exceptionally talented amateur musicians from the 7-county Grand Traverse region, and continues to serve the community by making music easily accessible to everyone.
