About this Event
Michelle Bailey is a Choctaw artist currently living in Fairbanks, Alaska, and her show features Native American beadwork, regalia, clothing, and jewelry. With a passion for art as a medium for storytelling, each piece she creates tells a unique narrative. Her goal is to find a place where traditional and modern designs can coalesce. The beadwork patterns, striking jewelry designs, and carefully chosen colors all come together to convey a modern twist on the stories of Native history, spirituality, and connection to the natural world.
Bailey describes her work as “a heartfelt homage to the timeless traditions and vibrant cultures of Indigenous peoples. Whether designing intricate beadwork or working with precious metals to create jewelry, each piece carries the imprint of my ancestors’ teachings and the unique perspective of my own journey.”
The University of Alaska Fairbanks Art Gallery is open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. All exhibitions are free and open to the public. The Art Gallery is located at 1706 Tanana Loop in the Fine Arts Complex.
