"I, Ephemeral" workshop

As part of "I, Present" public programme, join Sierra Plastica for exploring the intersection between art, mobilization, and socio-environmental awareness through the creation of a collective installation that reflects the experiences and aspirations of the participants, with a special emphasis on multiculturalism, forced migrations, and urban regeneration.

Through this activity we will seek to promote the importance of being present during our journeys to and from our homes or workplaces. Emphasis will be placed on the observation and other forms of perception of the natural elements that still take their place in the city and on the abundance (or not) of organic beings and materials that are discarded on a daily basis. Together we will discuss the wild vegetation found in London's urban space and its relationship to the wild plants of Ecuador, or of the participants' different countries of origin, unlocking narratives of migration. This ephemeral piece created in community will be exhibited at the gallery space.

Sierra Plastica is an art collective based in Quito, Ecuador, working on artivism, education, and research about climate, waste, recyling, and art. We will join them online, having some art facilitators in person, connectig London with Ecuador. For this workshop, we count with the participation of Casa Latina London.
