A Talanoa on Hana's "Hot Take"
About this Event

Hana Schmidt’s now infamous “hot take” provoked a huge response from the Pasifika community.

Many of the responses we read to Hana's 'hot take' made us think - what if we could engage in this talaona face-to-face rather than on social media?

KAVAX invite you to fofola ae fala kae talanoa ae kainga (roll out the mat so the people can talk).

Focus Questions

How do we honour our Moanan culture in Aotearoa?

What does humility mean? Is the cultural value of humility something we believe in as members of the Pasifika community living away from our ancestral homelands?

As Tangata Moana living here in Aotearoa, how do we enact the value of tautua (service) to our families and villages?

Purpose

This talanoa aims to provide a safe space for Tangata Moana to discuss the issues raised by Hana's "hot take".

Through this talanoa we hope to nurture open discussions and strengthen our community by engaging in our indigenous ways of being relational and putting to rest disagreements - around the kumete.

Facilitators: 'Anau Mesui-Henry and Lisa Meto Fox

There are limited spaces so please register to secure a spot around the kumete!

Costs covers kava and snacks will be provided.
