Come join us for an exciting day at the airport as we celebrate Girls In Aviation Day! This event is all about empowering girls to reach for the sky and pursue their dreams in aviation. We'll be taking a fun-filled bus trip to the Northeast Philadelphia Airport (9800 Ashton Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19114) where the magic happens.

During the trip, girls will have the opportunity to learn about different aviation careers, meet inspiring women in the industry, and even get a chance to sit in the cockpit of a real airplane! It's a day of adventure, learning, and breaking stereotypes.

Whether you're interested in becoming a pilot, an engineer, an air traffic controller, or simply curious about aviation, this event is for you! Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to explore the world of aviation and discover that "Girls Can Do Anything!"

This event is open to females between the ages of 8-17 and their parents/guardians. The $5.00 ticket fee secures your spot on the bus and includes a FREE GCDA Shirt.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

No ID required. This event is limited to girls ages 8-17 to best comprehend and understand the material/STEAM activities presented. GIAD is focused on increasing the female population in aviation fields. This is their opportunity to enjoy an event for them, about them, supporting them.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Bus will leave our Freedom Center (31 W. 31st St. Wilmington, De 19802) at 10:00am to arrive to the airport at 11am. Bus will leave the airport at 3pm to get back by 4pm

What can I bring into the event?

Umbrella in case of inclement weather. Event is rain or shine.

Food/beverages will be provided by our sponsors, however you are welcome to bring a cooler of snacks, especially if there are dietary restrictions.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

It is not required but it will speed up the check-in process.

What is the event attire?

We will be on airport property, inside a hangar and on a closed tarmac display. Wear comfortable shoes, attire is casual. Please wear close toed shoes for safety, and dress appropriately. For example, sweatpants/jogging clothes are not appropriate aviation show attire.

Will photos and video be taken at the event?

Several photographers and videographers will be at the event, capturing the excitement, activities and engagement. The event organizers will send a photo link and present a recap video shortly after the event. Attendees are welcome to share those photos and videos out to any platform.

All attendees will need to read and sign the photo/video release form in advance of attendance or complete upon entry.
