Come along to a free autumn-themed nature journaling session at Guisborough Forest as part of the "Feel Good in the Forest" programme. During these sessions we will explore the different elements of autumn within a forest setting and put our observations and reflections to page with a focus on fungi, changing colours, and writing about our own autumn reflections.

We have partnered with Guisborough Forest in North Yorkshire to deliver a series of nature journaling workshops as part of “Feel Good in the Forest”, a Forestry England Active Forests Programme, supported by Sport England.
Our Feel Good in the Forest nature journaling sessions are designed to help improve people’s health and wellbeing by enabling them to: be more active, find restoration and build resilience, be connected to each other and the forest, and feel empowered to try new things and included in how activities are delivered.
During our workshops, we use nature journaling activities to help us notice nature in the forest in a friendly, safe, supportive and inclusive environment for all.

What does the session involve?
Nature journaling is a time-honoured practice that combines art, science, and personal reflection. It's a way to connect with nature on a deeper level, enhancing your observation skills while expressing your creativity. The session will include:
- A gentle nature walk in the forest to boost physical activity and find our nature journaling sit spots.
- Complete three autumn-themed nature journaling activities, including an exploration of fungi and other autumn-related elements such as colour, leaf litter, changing seasons, some writing/poetry about Autumn reflections.
- An opportunity for a short discussion to share our thoughts and reflections, only if participants feel comfortable to do so.
- We will finish with some refreshments back at the visitor centre for those who would like to have a social afterwards.
- Once the session is finished, you will receive a nature journal and a woodland project booklet to take home with you, so you can continue this practice at home. You will also receive some Feel Good in the Forest resources, including a wellbeing journal and a journal to track your progress.

Please note: these are stand-alone sessions so there is no need to come along to more than one of the dates, unless you would like to.
