This Music (TM) Series is a Boston musician’s initiative to recognize the creativity of many who haven’t been given the stage as leaders, often younger than the Jazz scene veterans; those with acknowledgment who can create a new project and musical ideas; and the unsung “gems” who aren’t in the public’ eye and deserve to be. The emphasis is on the freer forms, the adventurous (to help find a “home”)
Matthew Ryals - synth electronics
Matthew Ryals (he, him) is a synthesist, composer, improviser, & educator based in Brooklyn, NY. His music encompasses aleatoricism, cybernetics, improvisation, and unfixed structures & release formats. His uniquely tactile approach to the synthesizer embraces unusual & extended synthesizer techniques. Recent accolades include a '22-'23 New Music USA Grant & a '21 IEA Electronic Media Residency. He has released on Oxtail Recordings, sound as language, SØVN, 3OP, dingn\dents, Post Season Franchise Records, Low Hanging Fruit, & Behind Glass.

Martin Gohary - prepared piano
Martin Gohary is an avant-garde pianist + composer whose uncompromising vision and relentless recording schedule have established him as a rising performer in the contemporary music scene. His music defies categorization, blending elements of 20th-century concert music, jazz, electronic, and experimental music into a unique and captivating sound. With each new release, Gohary pushes the boundaries of what is possible with the piano, exploring new techniques and textures that challenge both himself and his audience. His music is both challenging and accessible, and his performances are always thrilling and unpredictable. Whether he is playing solo or collaborating with other musicians, Martin Gohary's music is always fresh, exciting, and deeply satisfying.

Michael Rosenstein - distressed field recordings and amplified surfaces
Michael Rosenstein is an improviser who works with sound-gathering devices, amplified surfaces, salvaged instruments, and simple oscillators. He records extensively at ocean beaches, bogs, subways, city walks, in everyday domestic settings and as part of architectural investigations utilizing microphones, photo diodes, contact microphones, hydrophones, and electromagnetic sensors. He develops the sounds he gathers, utilizing them as raw sonic sources or transforming, distressing, and combining them, probing the unstable sonic results.
Yoona Kim - ajaeng
Yoona Kim is a Boston based ajaeng player, composer, and improviser. Her performances are deeply rooted in the richness of Korean court and folk music, juxtaposed with delicate noise, the soulful depths of traditional blues, and the dynamism of contemporary music. As a creative force, Yoona's evolving style weaves together the threads of tradition and innovation, forging a path that explores radical, non-linear temporalities. Her ajaeng stylings are both assertive and intuitive, honed over countless performances that have resonated with national and international audiences.
