EPHEMERA — A Solo Exhibition by Chance Ty
Join Phoenix-based, multi-award-winning artist Chance Ty for Ephemera, a solo exhibition presented at Alwun House as part of Phoenix’s First Friday ArtWalk.

Opening Friday, November 6, 2026, Ephemera explores the beauty, fragility, memory, and transformation found in objects and images that might otherwise be overlooked, discarded, forgotten, or left behind.
Chance Ty’s work is known for combining meticulous realism with surreal and conceptual imagery, creating artwork that exists somewhere between portraiture, artifact, memory, and dream. For Ephemera, that approach takes a different direction—bringing together intricate mixed-media works, unusual materials, vintage-inspired imagery, Japanese-influenced visual language, masks, fragments, printed imagery, and layers of symbolism.
The result is an exhibition designed to be looked at closely. Many of the works reveal additional imagery, textures, imperfections, and visual details the longer you spend with them. Rather than simply presenting traditional paintings, Ephemera treats each piece as an object with a history, something preserved, altered, repaired, or transformed.
Chance Ty is a longtime Phoenix-area artist whose work has received multiple awards and recognition, including juried and critics' awards, and whose artwork has been featured in previous Alwun House exhibitions. This exhibition offers an opportunity to see a new body of work from a local artist whose highly detailed, unconventional approach is difficult to categorize and unlike a typical gallery presentation.
FIRST FRIDAY
The opening night of Ephemera takes place during Phoenix First Friday, making it an ideal stop while exploring the evening's art, galleries, exhibitions, and surrounding downtown Phoenix attractions.
Come early, come late, or make Ephemera one of several stops during your First Friday evening. The exhibition is located at Alwun House and is within a short walk of the larger First Friday activity.
