About this Event
For the June 2026 session, we're doing "Nights and Weekends" by Alexis de Boschnek.
About the Book/Author: As a veteran recipe developer, Alexis thought she had home cooking on lock until she became the primary caretaker and chef for her mother, which inspired her to think harder about cooking as a daily task. Her book "Nights and Weekends" is organized by first asking the question "how much time do you have?"
In the Nights section, recipes have a short ingredient list, will come together in under 40 minutes, and use only one pot or a sheet pan. The Weekend section features recipes that are slightly more adventurous, as well as a chapter on homemade desserts.
How the "Cookbook Club" pot luck gathering works
- Buy or borrow the featured cookbook
- Make a recipe from the book and bring it to share (pot luck style)
- Each participant 1 minute "show & tell": what you made, any adjustments you recommend, etc (sample agenda below)
- Taste the dishes!
- Share & learn with others in a fun, friendly environment-- and have lots of fun with fellow cookbook enthusiasts!
By registering for the event, you agree to our . Please note that this is a pot luck hosted by Kat Gordon at Muddy's, but the food is made in individuals' home kitchens. Dishes are prepared and consumed in good faith and at your own risk.

ABOUT COOKBOOK CLUB
Cookbook club exists to further create community in the kitchen! Participants share their thoughts about the cookbook AND an actual dish they made from it.
How are the cookbooks selected? Kat chooses, but feel free to nominate one. :-)
Is the book included in the ticket price? No. Participants are on their own to purchase (or borrow) the book. Novel offers a 10% disount to Muddy's Cookbook Club participants- check confirmation email for your code!
Who can participate? Anyone interested in cookbooks & community! Participants under the age of 15 must be mature enough to participate considerately and be accompanied by a participating adult; each will need their own ticket.
How many servings do I need to bring? Just make the normal yield of the recipe. We will do taster sizes and as everyone brings a prepared recipe, we should have PLENTY to go around plus some left over for take home plates!
Where can I find a list of past Cookbook Club books? Check out my Bookshop.org book list for all my cookbook recommendations, including a round-up of past cookbook club books!
Is the event wheelchair accessible? Yes! Tables are height-adjustable, so just let us know ahead of time and so we can have the table and your spot all ready for you!
What about cancellations? Space is limited, so ticket sales are final. If you can't make it, you may gift your ticket to a friend. If Muddy's must cancel the event, we will inform you asap and fully refund your ticket.
