The Stanford Chinese Faculty and Family Club (SCFFC) Board is excited to announce the latest event in our Quarterly Speaker Series for the Spring Quarter 2024. Please join us for an engaging conversation between two distinguished scholars: Yi Cui, Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Stanford, and Bo Li, Deputy Managing Director at the International Monetary Fund. Together, they'll be discussing important topics titled "Climate Change, Energy Revolution, and Economic Policy".

Mr. Bo Li assumed the role of Deputy Managing Director at the IMF on August 23, 2021. He is responsible for the IMF’s work on about 90 countries as well as on a wide range of policy issues. Before joining the IMF, Mr. Li worked for many years at the People’s Bank of China, most recently as Deputy Governor. Outside of the PBoC, Mr. Li served as Vice Mayor of Chongqing. Mr. Li holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University and an M.A. from Boston University, both in economics, as well as a J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School. He received his undergraduate education from Renmin University of China in Beijing.


Yi Cui is the Founding Director of Sustainability Accelerator, Fortinet Founders Professor of materials science and engineering, energy science and engineering, and of photon science at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. He is a world-leading figure in nanotechnology clean energy and environmental technology. He is an elected member of the US National Academy of Sciences. He is a serial entrepreneur. He earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1998 from the University of Science & Technology of China and his Ph.D. in chemistry from Harvard University in 2002. Cui was a Miller Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley from 2002 to 2005 before joining the Stanford faculty.
