"Celebration of Ministry" Honoring Dr. James C. Anyike

Dr. James C. Anyike has been a light in Indianapolis since being called here from Chicago to minister in 2000.

In addition to leading The Way, an Africentric church, Dr. Anyike has been lead servant pastor of Scott United Methodist Church and founder of the radio show, Soul Liberation Radio, which airs on Sundays on 95.1 FM.

Dr. Anyike is CEO of Popular Truth Publishing, which has published numerous authors, and he is the author of several books, including “Black Love,” “The Faith to Love,” “African American Holidays,” “Bloodied by the Journey” and “You Gonna Be a Preacher.”

He has organized and leads one of the most successful Kwanzaa celebrations in Indianapolis.

Dr. Anyike will be relocating to Zimbabwe, Africa this year. There, he will continue his work based on systematic agapism (Black love) through Agapists United. Agapists United will be an institution providing workshops, retreats, lectures, special training and media resources for creating healthy and strong relationships.

He also will complete work on Neno Ya Takatiku (Black bible), which will reflect the African heritage of Christianity.

The celebration of Dr. Anyike and his ministry will be held at 6 p.m., Saturday, April 16 at the Jewel Event Center, 3333 N. Illinois Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208.

Event includes dinner and entertainment. Africentric festive attire preferred but not required.
