About this Event
In conjunction with Sarasota’s Centennial Celebration, Marlane Wurzbach's bold and colorful acrylic cityscapes and landscapes will be shown at Art Uptown Gallery this October in an exhibit entitled “Building Sarasota’s Stories." Ms. Wurzbach’s appreciation of Sarasota’s history grows as she works to preserve some of Sarasota’s architectural treasures on canvas. She’s drawn to the people who lived and worked in Sarasota and focused on this town’s best interests: Owen Burns, Bertha Palmer, Marie Selby, Charles and Charlotte Abbe, Katherine and Daisetta McClellan to name just a few. The exhibit runs from Saturday, September 25 through Friday, October 29. The public is invited to the First Friday reception on October 1 from 6-9 PM.
Art Uptown Gallery will welcome patrons and friends to share light refreshments at the 1367 Main Street gallery. Additionally, on Sunday, October 3 from 1-3 PM, Dr. Frank Cassell will conduct a public dialogue at the gallery discussing Sarasota’s history. Dr. Cassell is the author of Suncoast Empire - Bertha Honoré Palmer, Her Family, and the Rise of Sarasota and Creating Sarasota County. Dr. Cassell is also the Chairman of Sarasota County’s Centennial Steering Committee.
