CONVERSATION WITH THE CURATORS
Curators Ginger Dunnill and Josie Lopez close the exhibition "Broken Boxes: A Decade of Art, Action, and Dialogue" with a dialogue around the themes, artworks, and community that generated the exhibition, as well as the decade-long archive that is the Broken Boxes podcast. The groundbreaking, podcast-inspired exhibition celebrates the work and ideas of 23 revolutionary artists of our time.
March 2 is the last day to see the "Broken Boxes" exhibition, which Hyperallergic named one of the Top Exhibitions Around the World in 2024.
GINGER DUNNILL, originally from Maui, Hawaiโi, is a New Mexico based creative working as a producer, journalist, curator, community organizer, and sound artist. She collaborates with artists globally, creating work that inspires human connection, promotes plurality, and advocates for social justice. She is the founder of Broken Boxes Podcast, a decade-long celebrated underground broadcasting project amplifying systemically undervalued voices in the arts.
JOSIE LOPEZ, born and raised in Albuquerque, served as Head Curator and Curator of Art for the past six years at Albuquerque Museum, where she curated dozens of exhibitions. She previously served as Curator at 516 ARTS. She holds a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. Her research interests include examining art as a discursive agent in the political arena, modern and contemporary Latin American art, and the history of New Mexican art with a focus on printmaking.
