Rivers is truly an inspiring young woman with an incredible story of strength, resilience, and hope. Crowned @Miss Eastern Panhandle in late March, Rivers’ Community Service Initiative, “The Second Chance River Project,” focuses on raising awareness about the importance of organ donation and educating others on how to become registered organ donors.
Her mission is deeply personal. Rivers received a liver transplant in 2021 and is currently awaiting another transplant. Through her journey, she has become a passionate advocate for organ donation and the life-saving impact it can have for so many families.
In June, Rivers will compete for Miss West Virginia as she works toward earning scholarship funds to continue her education. She plans to attend school this fall to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Public Health with the goal of one day becoming a Donation Education Coordinator.
We are beyond excited to have Rivers join us for this special event focused on second chances — both for rescue dogs and for people whose lives have been touched by organ donation. She is a beautiful example of courage, compassion, and perseverance.
Be sure to stop by, meet Rivers, hear her story, and take photos with her during the event.
