We invite you to join Mile in My Shoes at a film screening of the documentary “26.2 to Life: The San Quentin Prison Marathon” on Friday, May 31st from 6:30 - 8:30pm as a kick-off to our Downtown Run Around race week! The 2024 Downtown Run Around celebrates the freedom to move, particularly for those who have redefined their paths through running with Mile in My Shoes. The ability to move through space freely - physically and emotionally - is a privilege that many of our Members have not had, and one that many of us take for granted. The “26.2 to Life” documentary tells the story of incarcerated men who are members of the 1000 Mile Club at San Quentin Prison. Just as we do at Mile in My Shoes, this film follows their collective journey of transformation through running in an effort to reclaim agency over their lives and be defined by more than their past.
This event is free! MiMS Merch will be available for purchase at the event, as well as Downtown Run Around 5K race registration. Please RSVP here to help us get an idea of how many folks to expect! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScXPmAN8ghnMazl8UkIm7rM0hZll04L7AhJ1ddVLwTCOujGpA/viewform?usp=sf_link
